When you select text in Mac OSX it is selected in it's default color. System prefs makes it easy to customize to a color you prefer.

Here's how to do it:

1. Open 'System Preferences'. Apple Menu -> System Preferences

2. Select 'Appearance'

3. Select a new color from the drop down menu. Mac OS X gives you 8 easy to read Default colors to choose from, but if you don't like any of these, choose 'OTHER' and then the color wheel will appear and you can create your own.

4. Test it. Simply Click and drag your mouse over some selectable text in a document or anything that is selectable to test your results.
