Mac Tips Daily! #42 - Shortcut for adding new Applications

Mac OS X has a couple of different methods for installing new software. You have 'Installer Packages' that install all the files where they need to go, and then you have just the 'Application' icon, which you simply drag to the Applications folder. Mactips42 1 Notice this program has a 'Package' for you to double click on, and then it will install. Mactips42 2 Notice this fine program uses the simple Drag & Drop method. But.. you have to be able to see the Applications folder to drag it there. You could open up a NEW FINDER window to see it, but there is an easier way. Click on the 'Old Finder' button, which I circled in red above. Mactips42 3 Presto! Now you have turned that old style window into a usable window with your faithful sidebar. Now just drag that 'Application Icon' onto the 'Applications Folder' and your install is done. Notice the red arrow pointing where to drop it
