Mac Tips Daily! #76 - Concealing documents from Spotlight

Subscribe with iTunes Spotlight can index your deepest darkest secrets on your Mac. That's great, if you want to find them quickly. What if you don't want them to be found during a spotlight search? Here is how to do it: Open System Preferences (Apple menu -> System Preferences) Next, choose 'Spotlight' Mactips76 2 Now, select the 'Privacy' tab. Then add any folders you don't want indexed by Spotlight. You can directly drag/drop them into the window, or click the '+' sign to navigate to a particular folder. Mactips76 3 Now, Spotlight will re-index you whole hard drive, eliminating any traces of the info from it's memory.
