Mac Tips Daily! #168 - Disable System Sounds
Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 11:40AM
Mac OS X doesn't have too many annoying system sounds. It plays a sound of your choice when something goes wrong, and it even lets you customize it.
There may be a situation that you don't want the sounds to play. Maybe you are doing a presentation, recording a podcast, or maybe you just don't like them. You can either turn them down, or disable them altogether.
Here is how to do it:
Open 'System Preferences'
Next, choose 'Sounds'
Click on the 'Sound Effects' tab.
Now, either turn down system sounds by moving the 'Alert Volume' slider towards the left, or disable them altogether by un-checking 'Play user interface sound effects'.
