Mac Tips Daily! #156 - Backup iTunes Purchases

If you download music or videos from iTunes, you are technically only permitted to download this content one time. Disaster will strike when you least expect it, so be sure to back up your purchased content. ITunes specifically tells you it is your responsibility to do this. Here is how to backup only your purchased music & videos. Open 'iTunes' itunes next, choose 'Preferences' preferences Now, click on the 'Advanced' button, and then click on the 'Burning' tab. Select the option for 'Data CD or DVD', and then click 'OK' prefs In the 'Source' pane of the iTunes window, click on 'Purchased' playlist. Now, look at the bottom of iTunes, and notice it tells you how many items, total time, and the SIZE of your playlist. If this is over 650MB, you will need to use a blank DVD (if you have a DVD burner). Notice, mine is 1.32GB, so I needed a DVD. Mactips156 4-1 Now, click on 'Burn Disc', and it will ask you to insert a blank disc. When it is done burning, be sure to label it, and keep it in a safe place.. because you will need it when you least expect it.
