If you are downloading a large file, you may need to stop it, for whatever reason. Maybe it's lightening outside and you need to shut down quickly, and the download has another hour to go. Instead of starting over, resume the transfer. It's supported on most servers, and Safari makes it easy.
Here is how to do it:
Open Safari
Download a file.. your choice.
The download window should pop up. If it doesn't,
from the Safari menu, choose 'Window -> Downloads'
Once the download window pops up, click the 'x' to stop the transfer.
To Resume the transfer (if the server supports it), click the snapback arrow (orange one).
After your download completes, click the magnifying glass icon and a Finder window will open where your file is stored.
