Multiple Text Selection - Mac Tips Daily! #295

Have you ever been editing some text and needed to select different sections of it at the same time? Many people know how to SELECT ALL or Highlight one sentence or paragraph of contiguous text. Did you know that in many Cocoa based Mac OS X programs you can select different sections of text at the same time.

Here is how to do it:

Open up a document that you want to edit. I am using TextEdit in this example. Click and Drag over the first portion of text to select it. Then then hold down the Command key and then select the next portion you want to select. All of the functions work as you would normally expect with selected text... such as Formatting, Copy/Paste, and so on. Note: It may not work in all applications, you will need to just try it to see if it works.
