News: Picturesque 2 Released for Leopard

pq128.pngThe guys from Acqualia software have released the latest version of Picturesque. Updates include:
- a totally new engine rewritten especially for OS X Leopard, using Core Animation.
- 3D Perspective effect
- Creation of presets
- All-in-one interface
- Lots more

The update to version 2.0 is a paid upgrade. If you are still using Tiger, you will need to use the older version. The good news is.... it's pretty fantastic too.

CLM-Icon.png Plasq has released their latest iteration of the Comic Life apps. The newest is Comic Life Magiq. I played with this at Macworld Expo.. and it is a very refined application for creating incredible looking comics. Tons of great templates and the ease of use that Plasq does so well is sure to make this one a winner.

Pricing is set at an introductory $39.95 ($5 off the regular price), but if you received Comic Life on your Mac, you can get a cross-grade it for $19.95.

News: iPhone Roadmap, Aquariums, & Independence

Looks like Apple has sent out invitations to a special event on Thursday March 6th at the Apple Campus. Topics will include the new SDK and and some new enterprise features. Sounds like they are revving up to make a move on corporate America. Time will tell I guess. This is even exciting news for folks in Ireland, as O2 has announced the iPhone will be released there on March 14th.

While we all wait for this new SDK to surface, it never hurts to check out software for your Mac. The folks at Unsanity have released Leopard (10.5) compatible betas of their 'haxies' such as WindowsShade X, FruitMenu, and FontCard. The former two were two of the apps I bought when I bought my very first iBook back in 2004.

Highlights include:

- An option to display the toolbar as a gray sidebar if you don't like
the new HUD look in version 4.
- The preview generator has been rewritten to make Default Folder X
much faster and less resource-hungry.
- Navigating with the keyboard works more smoothly.
- Standard copy/paste command keys work for Spotlight comments.
