My first computer? An NCR Punch Tape Terminal with a phone cradle connection to the University Of Louisville Speed School mainframe.
Yep, it was the old days, 1974 to be exact. The terminal was a large, hulking machine with a typewriter keyboard. And since computer time was so expensive, you would actually create your program (we used BASIC) by typing it on the keyboard. As you typed, it would punch holes in the 2-inch wide paper tape. We've had an enormous amount of entries, and it's really fun to read through them all. Unfortunately, I would say at least 20% of them have not told us about their first computer. Hello... that's a stipulation of the contest. I clearly state on the contest page that incomplete entries will be discarded. I hate to do that.
