iPhone 3G Announced - Better, Faster, Stronger! $199

The headline... New iPhone!!! July 11, 2008!!

I followed along with today's keynote on chat at twitlive.tv and received great audio via iPhoneAlley, and had a nice supply of images via Gizmodo.
It's almost like being there... (not really, but desperation makes you appreciate what you have).

- Lots of demos of applications. Super Monkey Ball, Ebay, MLB, etc. Cool stuff. If you are a Doc... you'll have some really cool apps to work with, starting with Modality and Epocrates.

- Push alerts. This essentially makes a connection thru apple's servers so that you don't have to have a background application running. For example, if you don't have your chat program running, you will be able to send a 'push' notification to the iPhone alerting you to launch iChat. Not available until September. Let's hope it's more reliable than .Mac.

- MobileME - Push contacts, calendars, and email.
$99 a year w/ 20GB storage. It replaces .Mac, but current users can update to MobileMe.

- The iPhone 2.0 software has been delayed until mid-July. That is very disappointing.
