Mac Tips Daily! #83 - Using the Character Palette
Keyboards can only contain so many characters. If you find yourself looking for the command symbol, or maybe mathematical Pi, or even some Korean. You can find all of these, and more in the 'Character Palette'.
Here is how to do it:
First, open 'System Preferences' - 'Apple Menu -> System Preferences'
Then, choose 'International'
Then choose the 'Input Menu' tab, and then add a 'checkmark' to the 'Character Palette' option, and then you can close the windows.

Now, notice the 'Flag' in the menu bar.
Click on the 'Flag', and then choose 'Character Palette'.

This will bring up the palette. Now, when you are typing in some text into a document (email, text document, etc), simply bring up the character palette, and then double click on the the symbol or letter of your choice, and it will insert it into your document. Be sure to click on all of the triangles to expand your character set choices.

In fact, you can even choose different fonts, and see how they look as well. Play around with it -- it's a very handy utility.
