Mac Tips Daily! # 230 - Spring Loaded Folders
Subscribe with iTunes | Review on iTunes
You can have folders open automatically, while you are trying to drag & drop files between folders. Extremely useful if you need to dig deep into a folder structure & don't want to open an extra Finder window.

Here is how to do it:
Simply click & drag a file onto a folder. Before you release the mouse button, pause, and you will see the next folder open. Continue to move it over any folders as you dig deeper through the hierarchy.

To change the delay rate, or turn off Spring Loaded Folders completely, go to
Finder -> Preferences

and click on the 'General' tab.
Tweak the settings, and click close the window when you are done.

Great tip! Not many people know about Spring Loaded folders.
One of my favorite things to go along with this to hit the Space Bar when dragging a file over a folder. This automatically triggers the Spring of the Folder. It's pretty easy to get really deep into a folder structure really fast using the Space Bar.
Keep up the great work!
